Come fly with me...

I picked up some blank coasters, £1 for a pack of ten, on a trip to The Range and in one of my mini book moments I decided they would make great covers for a pocket album and I was right.

This little travel themed mini was quick and easy to make, you can see instructions on my gallery here, if you'd like to make your own version.

I used papers from the Simply Creative Around the World paper pack in 6 x 6" and 12 x 12".

With tags for the pockets it's a cute travel album perfect for those wallet sizes pics.

Sketchy Sunday no. 144

I'm in the mood for layers this week, I think it's all the patterned paper I'm playing with. The paper pads make it so easy for me to mix those patterns on one design, so a multi-layered sketch was the way to go and here it is.....Sketch no. 144.

I also have to share my new gadget, the Apple Lightening to SD Card Camera Reader. As my laptop has seen better days and my iPad mini screen is so far and away better, this has been a great discovery for me. It's literally plug in and away you go.

Movies watched this week:-

Anthropoid - War time true story - pick of the week
Terminator Salvation - Sci-Fi action sequel
X-Men First Class - Entertaining superhero action.

Story Time

No, it's no good looking for Tom Hardy, it's not that kind of story time.
I recently received some paper pads from Trimcraft as part of my current stint on the Design Team and I have to admit the Storyteller ones are my favourites. My bling fixation has been sated with this collection, which has glittered, glossed and generally gorgeous designs….I know I’m on the team, but even if I wasn’t this would definitely still be on my shopping list. Check out the paper pads here, they’re available in 6 x 6”, 8 x 8” and 12 x 12”.

The paper is heavyweight and I used it on its own to make the pocket pages for this twinkly mini album. For the book covers I covered mount board (stop by your local framers and see if they’ll part with their scraps) with the pink and gold paper, probably my favourite from the pad. All the embellishments on this project are also Trimcraft products. The paper flowers and metal watch brad clustered around the glittered frame were from The Works priced at £1 a pack. The frame and some of the pearls were from Poundland….Guess the price! I covered the frame in gold glitter before adding my printed ‘Story’ and teamed with the watch die cut to complete my ‘Story Time’ title.

The pages are really simple to make, but great for holding large tags and this design is easy to resize to suit different image sizes. To make your own version you can see my full instructions on my Trimcraft gallery.

I bound my book with my trusty Bind-It-All, but book rings would work just as well if you don’t have a binding tool. I found packs of five 1” book rings in The Range, so it’s a great bargain option.

Sketchy Sunday no.143

I've only had a few crafty hours this week, but surprisingly I've managed to finish off three....yes, three!....projects. They totaled two mini books and a die storage idea I wanted to try, which has worked out great, but more of that later. In the meantime here's the weekly dose of inspiration, sketch no. 143.

As always do let me know if you've been inspired to create by any of my sketches. It's always fun to see someone else's take on them.

Sketchy Sunday no.142

It's been a manic week and my intention of posting a couple of extra posts fell by the wayside, but at least I didn't miss Sketchy Sunday. So, here we have it, sketch no. 142.

And on a completely different subject, if you're on the lookout for some organising jars - let's face it who isn't!- for your embellies and you tend to buy a few spices, check-out Sainsbury's new spice jars.

They're £1 each and once empty, the label on the lid, which is a silver metal and the one on jar peal off cleanly. I've already got myself quite a few empties, we use a lot of Basil. They're perfect for my sequins and small embellies and you can label either the top to keep them in a drawer or the glass jar itself.

Movies I've watched this week:-

Independence Day Resurgence - Sci-Fi action sequel
Hell or High Water - modern western (pick of the week)
Bad Moms - adult comedy

Sketchy Sunday no.141

The festive deccies have all been cleared away and a fresh New Year has begun. After a short break with the sketches (sorry if you came looking) I'm back into my sketch routine.

Now, with one eye on the coming weeks I thought I'd get ahead of the game with a love themed sketch. If you're not ready for the Valentine layouts yet, just change those hearts to your 'go to' shape - flowers, cogs or butterflies are always an easy fit.

So, here we have it sketch no. 141.

Here's wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Movies watched this week:
Conjuring 2 - ghostly goings on
Central Intelligence - comedy starring Dwayne Johnson
Ghostbusters - fun remake
Warcraft - fantasy adventure (pick of the week)
Jason Bourne - super spy action thriller
