Nailed it!

As I mentioned yesterday I've had a little crafty time this weekend and one of the projects I managed to get done was the bargain Pick-up-Sticks box. I used some of my DCWV Garden Party scraps to decorate the box, I've almost completely used up this lovely stack. A few paper and foam flowers decorate the top, along with a little bling and a label holder with some Tim Holtz mini alpha stickers. I also used one of my handmade bead flourishes. Finally I added one of my favourite crystal magnets from Tiger as a handle. At £1 a packet they're a really good option and I just remove the little magnet with a pair of pliers and adhere using a strong glue like Anita's Clear Gloss Finish.

DCWV Garden Party Stack

The perfect size for a basic manicure kit.

I filled the box with a basic manicure kit, including clippers, emery boards, toe separators, nail crystals and micro beads. It's amazing what you can fit in these boxes, they make sweet little gifts for a couple of pounds, the box was only 50p and the embellishments were from my oddment box.

Sketchy Sunday no.104

Happy Easter and if you're anything like me this means four day weekend......woohoo! So, after a couple of days of egg runs, we have a lot of nieces, nephews and friends to drop off to, it's crafty time.....more woohoo!

For those of you looking for a little layout inspiration here's this week's sketch. I've got a decent amount of scraps to use up and sketches like this, along with mini books, are a great way to make to make a hole in my scrap pile.

I've also been putting some scraps to good use decorating one of the Pick-up-Sticks boxes that I picked up the other week, but more of that tomorrow.

Sketchy Sunday no.103

It's a great week here at castle Chunka, with a new nephew to spoil and lots going on from a business standpoint. Exciting times for many reasons, but that doesn't mean the sketches fall by the wayside as I'm finding them more and more useful in getting my scrapping back on track. So here we have it.........Sketch no.103.

This simple layout can be used for two 6 x 4s or a mix of smaller sizes. I like using brackets to highlight my journaling and the stand out title could be embellished to create a busier design. This is the kind of sketch I come back to time and time again, yet the end result always looks different, spin the elements around or add embellishments and it's a dramatically different effect.

As always, please post a link in the comments to your layouts inspired by any of the sketches, I love to see your take on them.

Happy Scrapping.

Movies watched this week:-

Ted 2 - raucous comedy
Regression - dark thriller
The Visit - creepy horror, with a dark humerous twist
The Lazarus Effect - sci-fi horror
Cop Car- thriller with the ever youthful Kevin Bacon
Riddick - sci-fi action
Where the Devil Hides - horror

It's Wednesday and that means it's another day of desk hopping madness. Check out what it's all about at, once you get the bug you won't be able to resist having a nose around.

My desk this week is home to another layout in the throes of creation. I've already decided the title is going to be cut on the Silhouette and there's probably going to be some journaling strips, but I haven't decided on the embellishments yet. I'll probably use the mini letter stickers for my date as I have them in loads of style and colours, so something will fit the bill.

So that's my little craft space at the mo' and now I'm off to start visiting everyone's desks, it's going to take me a couple of days, but I'll make it around.

Game on!

Being a lavish spender on supplies (note the sarcasm), I'm always out for a bargain and where papers are concerned I haven't bought any for ages, mainly due to having been part of the Docrafts PDT, but now I'm just using what I have until I've created a big enough hole to justify a splurge. As to the other bits and bobs that come along with the crafting addiction, these little beauties are a favourite. At just £1 for two from The Works they make great and cheap little experiments, I came up with two versions previously and I've got my thinking cap on for these.

The before

The pick-up-sticks box became a little sewing kit.

I made a few beaded pins in a leaf die-cut for a pretty addition.

The Domino box made a sweet holiday memory box.

complete with mini tag book and a bottle for shells.
.And finally a big shout-out to Amanda for her lovely layout, your prize should be with you shortly.

99 with a golden flake

I mentioned I was using sketch no.99 recently....well, when I say recently I mean 2 weeks+ ago..... and I've finally put the finishing touches to it and by finishing touches I mean the title.

I've stuck fairly close to the original sketch, just splitting the title and shaping the text a little more. The title is cut from gold mirror card and black card using my Silhouette Cameo 2.The mirror card cut beautifully using the 'coverstock' setting, I just had to be a bit careful when removing it from the cutting mat to avoid creases.

I used Papermania Capsule geometric-mono papers which have foiled sections on some of the designs. some more subtle than others. I used the font 'Brown Bag' which is available on Dafont, it's a great site for free fonts and they are constantly updating their catalogue.

So, that's my effort which is now nestled safely in an album. Now off for a tasty spot of dinner courtesy of Ray's culinary skills.

Sketchy Sunday no.101

It's that time of the week when I do my bit by posting a little scrappy inspiration and hopefully you've got some crafting time set aside to take full advantage of it.

I recently had to move my craft area as we had to have a load of pipework replaced and I stumbled across loads of part used sticker sheets and chipboard sets. I'm sure all crafters have those and so I set myself the task of designing a sketch to use up those oddments........and here we have it, sketch no. 101.

Note the title hidden in the jumble - I've used colour to define it, but you could use style, texture or material.

Happy Scrapping and Happy Mother's Day to all you mums.

Movies I've watched this week:

Maggie - surprisingly touching zombie drama
Project Almanac - time travelling head twister
Mad Max Fury Road - post apocalyptic chaos
Hitman Agent 47 - humdrum game adaptation
White God - Hungarian doggy Spartacus
Solace - morally ambiguous clairvoyant duel

WOYWW no. 352

Welcome to another day of desk snooping and you'll see I've had a bit of a reshuffle, forced upon me by a load of gas pipes having to be replaced.... It worked out better though as there's a bit more natural light in this spot. I've still got a load of sorting to do, but isn't there always. As for the desk, the layout is just waiting for some date stickers and there's a second one hiding underneath that's just got to the background and photos stage. The cd holder has my 6" paper and card with the recent addition of a pack of vinyl, a pressie from Ray, to try out on my Silhouette. The mini drawer set is waiting for some handles, I may use some of my crystal magnets from the notice board for those.

So there you have it, I'll be hopping around over the next couple of days and if you'd like to know more about this regular hop check out

Check out the giveaway I'm hosting on The Turn of The Century post if you're in the mood for a little challenge.
